Christmas Makes Me Nostalgic

I didn’t always have a wonderful Christmas growing up,in fact one of the most nostalgic moment I had as a child was on a Christmas eve.

I was 9 years old then,I remember how I had to stand on a queue to a party I wasn’t invited to (hoping to get a present), because we didn’t have food to eat that night,my mom left us that year,my dad was out for his soldier duties,as the eldest I thought I had to do something. While waiting for my turn, our neighbor told me to hurry home because my sisters were crying,it was against my will to lose my spot (on the queue) but I had to leave, when I got home I told my sisters to stop crying because I was going to get us a present.

When I went back,  the line was longer than it was, but I waited for my turn anyway. All the time I was on queue,I was praying I’d get a big box but I didn’t,as soon as I got my present I rushed home,I couldn’t wait to share the joy of opening a present with my sisters.

Looking back I know that the Lord purposely gave me a smaller box because he knew we needed something to eat that Christmas eve ( a big box could have been a toy car) the box only had few pieces of candy but at that moment they were equivalent to ham and steak.

I never told this story without shedding tears, and as I grow older, each tear I shed for this story becomes more and more meaningful,I’m becoming less angry and more THANKFUL for everything I have (sniffles, sniffles).

Life is beautiful, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone, xoxo.
