Pana Cota

I promise this is the last set of photos with a Christmas tree back ground this month.I just want to share a really easy dessert  I tried last year,it’s called “pana cota”.Pana cota is an Italian dessert which means cooked cream,so if you’re ready here’s what we need.

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup skimmed milk

15 ml of knox unflavored gelatin powder or 1/2 oz.

2 and 1/2 cups heavy cream

1/2 cup white sugar

2 tsp. vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. 1.Pour milk into a small bowl, and stir in the gelatin powder. Set aside.
  2. 2.In a saucepan, stir together the heavy cream and sugar, and set over medium heat. Bring to a full boil. Pour the gelatin and milk into the cream, stirring until completely dissolved. Cook for one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla and pour into  ramekin dishes.
  3. 3.Cool the ramekins uncovered at room temperature. When cool, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight before serving.

Easy right???,If you will look at my pana cota below, the one on the right has a light shade of yellow that’s because I used an eggnog,same measurements and instructions,I just substituted the heavy cream with an eggnog and added an extra 1/2 oz. of the knox gelatin powder.
